Password Manager or Notebook: Which Keeps Your Accounts Safer?
Priya Sandhu
Two ways to keep track of strong passwords, a paper notebook and a password manager, compared on safety, effort and everyday use, with a clear recommendation for beginners.
The question learners keep asking
The notebook: what it does well
The password manager: what it does well
Putting them side by side
What I recommend for beginners
A simple first week plan
Both a notebook and a password manager are far better than one password used everywhere. For most adults who are starting out, I suggest the manager, introduced gradually with the notebook kept as a temporary safety net. Choose the tool you will actually use every week, and remember that a safe habit practised calmly will protect you better than a perfect system you abandon after a few days.
