Five Slips That Make Emails and Video Calls Harder Than They Need to Be
Daniel Okafor
Most trouble with email, messages and video calls comes from a handful of small habits. Daniel Okafor names five common ones and shows a simple way to avoid each.
Leaving the subject line blank or vague
Writing one long block of text
Replying to everyone when you meant one person
Joining a video call without a quick check
Misreading tone in quick text messages
Skipping a final look before you press send
None of these slips says anything about your ability. They are ordinary habits that anyone picks up when nobody has shown them a better way. Choose one to work on this week, perhaps the subject line or the pause before sending, and practise it until it feels natural. Small, steady changes build real confidence, and that is how I try to teach every lesson.
