Internet safety
A checklist to run through before choosing an internet safety course
Priya Sandhu
Before signing up for any online safety lesson, it helps to know what you already do well and where you feel unsure. This checklist walks through the questions worth asking first.
Start with what you already do online
Check how you handle suspicious emails
Look honestly at your passwords
Ask what you want to protect most
Questions to ask about the course itself
Make the decision at your own pace
A good decision about internet safety starts with knowing yourself: the accounts you use, the way you sign in, how you react to odd messages and what you most want to protect. Work through these questions, jot down your answers, and match them against the course outline. If the fit is good, begin when you feel ready. If not, wait or start elsewhere in the curriculum. Either way, you will have taken a calm, deliberate step toward feeling more secure online.
